Jonny Fritz released his first album in over ten years, Debbie Downers, on October 24, 2025 through Gar Hole Records. The album is a nine track collection of eccentric country songs that showcase Fritz’s ability to turn the seemingly mundane into quick-witted, memorable storytelling filled with humor and heart.
On April 03, 2026 Fritz will release an insightfully fresh and experimental interpretation of Debbie Downers. Leaving behind the traditional country music instruments from the original album, Debbie Downers – Woodwinds leans into a company of, you guessed it, woodwind instruments.
“Tea Man (Woodwinds)” is the first single from the upcoming release that birthed on January 20th, 2026. Built around lively woodwind arrangements that transform the song into something reminiscent of a whimsical Disney film score. While the lyrics retain the witty, sharp personality Fritz is known for, the woodwinds take on the role of traditional country instruments, creating a lively and surprisingly rich sound.
Andrew Conrad composes the track with clarinets, flutes, piccolos, and other reed instruments while Fritz’s soothing vocals takes you on a humorous journey into a man who loves tea.
Individual players include:
Christine Tavolacci – Piccolo, Flute, Alto Flute
Michael Mull – Clarinet, Alto Sax
Andrew Conrad – Clarinet, Tenor Sax
Brian Walsh – Bass Clarinet, Bari Sax
Tea Man (Woodwinds) highlights Jonny Fritz’s creative restlessness. The buoyant woodwind arrangement feels less like a remake and more like a joyful detour into Fritz’s endlessly curious imagination.
This isn’t just a novelty — it’s a playfully intriguing reinterpretation of an already enjoyable song, and an easy recommendation for listeners who appreciate humorous lyrics paired with imaginative arrangements. “Tea Man (Woodwinds)” proves that Jonny Fritz isn’t just revisiting old material—he’s reinventing it, reminding listeners that his creativity thrives where expectation ends.
